Man Says Kaiser Doc Left Excess Surgical Mesh in His Chest

(CN) - A man claims a Kaiser doctor failed to remove extra pieces of composite mesh from his chest following surgery.

Rafael Miranda - who is representing himself - says in his Solano County, Calif. complaint that Kaiser Foundation Health Plan doctor Scott Reynold Phillips left the material inside of his chest during an August 2011 surgery. Miranda says that he discovered Phillips's error because "the pain has been continuous" and has caused him to miss work.

Miranda asked Phillips and Kaiser to remove the composite mesh piece, but both have declined to do so. He seeks damages for medical negligence and unfair business practices.
