SACRAMENTO, Calif. (CN) - An incarcerated man claims in Sacramento County Superior Court that he is not able to get copies of necessary medical records.

Frank L. Dearwester sued University Medical Imaging, Center for Interventional Spine, Kaiser Permanente Medical Center and other healthcare organizations, pro se. He alleges general negligence, medical malpractice, breach of contract, malice and fraud.
According to Dearwester’s lawsuit, he hurt his back and got a hernia at work in 2006. The hernia was surgically repaired but the back injury is chronic, he claims. He also has knee problems including arthritis, according to the complaint.
Dearwester and the jail tried without success, from May 2011 to July 2014, to get copies of his medical records from various facilities, according to the complaint. Without them, he is unable to get the care he needs for his injuries, according to the complaint.
