Kaiser Settles Wrongful Death Claim

ARLINGTON, Va. (CN) - Kaiser has settled a woman's claims in Arlington County Court that she was injured during a hospital stay while pregnant and her baby died.

Teesha Thomas, administrator of the estate of Taeden L. Thomas filed a claim against Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Mid-Atlantic States, Inc. and Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group, P.C., for wrongful death, 
Ms. Thomas alleged that she was injured during a hospitalization at Virginia Hospital Center, a Kaiser facility, while she was pregnant with Taeden.
"During that hospitalization she also gave birth to Taeden and he allegedly died as a result of the medical care rendered at or about the time of birth," the settlement petition states.
Kaiser has denied all allegations of negligence, proximate cause and damages, according to the settlement petition.
The plaintiff is represented by Jason Fernandez of Greenberg & Bederman, LLC of Silver Spring, Md.
