SAN MATEO, Calif. (CN) - Kaiser’s elevator closed on a woman and her mother, who was in a wheelchair, she claims in a San Mateo County Superior Court lawsuit.

In a pro se lawsuit, Rochelle M. Abrams sued Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc., for personal injury, general negligence and premises liability.
While the plaintiff transported her disabled mother to a medical appointment, closing elevator doors struck both of them as the plaintiff tried to push the wheelchair over the threshold, at Kaiser’s Redwood City facility in May 2012, the complaint states.
Abrams seeks general, compensatory and punitive damages for wage loss, loss of earning capacity and medical and hospital expenses.
