MARTINEZ, Calif. (CN) - An elderly woman blames Kaiser and a non-Kaiser skilled nursing facility for pressure sores that got worse without proper care, in a complaint filed in Contra Costa Superior Court.
Inez Glenn sued Stonebrook Healthcare Center, Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, The Permanente Medical Group, Inc. and Kaiser Foundation Health Plan for negligence and elder neglect.
Glenn was injured, including by developing one or more pressure sores or worsening of existing pressure sores, while under Kaiser and Stonebrook’s care during the fall of 2012, according to the five-page complaint.
Kaiser and Stonebrook “acted with reckless disregard of plaintiff’s health, safety and general overall well-being. They knew that because of their conduct, plaintiff would probably be harmed,” it states.
The plaintiff seeks general, special and punitive damages, costs of suit, prejudgment interest and attorney’s fees. She is represented by Jay Chafetz of Walnut Creek. MSC14-00012
