(CN) - A man says Kaiser Permanente doctors used defective screws to repair his damaged knee, according to his Sacramento County complaint.

Erik Labhard and his wife Sandra claim doctors used the screws, manufactured by Arthrex California Inc., knowing of defects, "hazards and dangerous propensities" related to the product, their complaint states.

In addition to several Kaiser entities and doctors, the Labhards also name Arthrex California as a defendant in the complaint. They seek damages for medical negligence, strict products liability, failure to warn, breach of warranty and loss of consortium - as well as punitive damages against Arthrex.

They are represented by Eric J. Ratinoff and Kerrie D. Webb of the Sacramento firm Kershaw, Cutter & Ratinoff.
