PORTLAND, Ore. (CN) – A Kaiser doctor botched a woman’s epidural during childbirth, instead, injecting air into her spinal canal, she claims in Multnomah County Circuit Court.

Megan Hunt sued Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, Northwest Permanente, PC, an Oregon professional corporation, Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Northwest, dba Kaiser Permanente, an Oregon corporation, and a doctor identified as “John Doe Doctor,” for medical malpractice.
According to the lawsuit, the doctor did not adequately inform Hunt of the risks of an epidural. When he gave her the first epidural, he did not find out why it did not work before he gave her several more, she says. He did not use adequate saline solution and injected air into her spinal canal, she says.
Megan Hunt seeks $250,000 in non-economic damages, economic damages to be shown at trial and costs and disbursements. She is represented by Daniel C. Lorenz in Portland.
