RIVERSIDE, Calif.
(CN) - A Kaiser hospital gave a woman medication that caused terrible chest and
head pain, she claims in a malpractice lawsuit in Riverside County Superior Court.
Phyllis Harris sued
Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, Southern California Permanente Group, and Drs.
Betty Grant-Anderson and Arezou Amanda Aryai, alleging professional negligence
and medical malpractice. Her husband Willie Harris Jr., sued for negligent
infliction of emotional distress and loss of consortium.
“As a result of the
negligently administered treatment, drugs and medication Phyllis Harris suffered
terrible chest and head pain and a drop in her blood pressure. She thought she
was going to die,” the complaint states. “To date, as a result of the
negligently administered treatment, Phyllis Harris still experiences shortness
of breath, chest pain, and requires an inhaler to help her
breathe.”
Harris claims she
got the drugs on May 19, 2013, and her husband says he “watched in horror as his
wife suffered through the pain and a near death
experience.”
They seek medical
expenses, lost earnings and damages.
They are
represented by Wesley B. Westphal of San Bernardino.
