RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. (CN) - Doctors at a Kaiser hospital botched an emergency procedure, a woman claims in a San Bernardino Superior Court complaint.
Luz Martinez arrived at a Kaiser hospital in May 2012, complaining of pain in her abdomen and pelvic regions. Doctors performed a cholecystectomy, but punctured her bowel in the process, resulting in sepsis, severe pain and discomfort, according to her complaint. She received follow-up treatment to address those issues and was ultimately released on June 1, 2012.
Martinez claims she had been forced to get additional medical care. She is suing for medical malpractice and is seeking general and economic damages, including lost earnings.
